.:Basic Personality:. Artemis is, like most of the other gods, selfish, and only thinks of herself. When she first meets someone, she's sweet and caring, but only until she either finds a reason she could use them, or deems them unworthy of her presence. Because she is a goddess, she tends to think much less of humans and anyone who isn't immortal as well. She holds some compassion for her twin brother Apollo, but mostly only because they are twins.
As children living in Delos, Artemis and Apollo were as close as can be, and they remained that way for years. But when Apollo tricked her into killing her love, Artemis became outraged and to this day still holds hate for her twin in her heart over that. The goddess is very quick to anger, and temperamental as well, one never quite knowing what mood she might be in when stumbled across. Like Amazons, she's not one to be tamed by a man, and holds grudges for a very long time if betrayed.

.:History:. When Hera found out that Zeus had been unfaithful to her with Leto, and that the other goddess was pregnant, she forbade anyone from offering Leto shelter to deliver her babies in. After months of wandering, trying to find shelter, Leto finally settled on the island of Delos where she gave birth to her children. While Apollo became the god of the sun, Artemis became the goddess of the moon and childbirth because she helped her mother give birth to her twin.
After their birth, Artemis and Apollo spent many years on Delos until their father called them up to Mount Olympus to join their fellow pantheon members. While in Olympus, Artemis gained an interest in hunting and animals, and soon became the goddess for hunters who hunted to be able to survive and not just for fun.
Once while she was bathing in a secluded pool with some of her maids, the Greek hunter Actaeon. Outraged that the hunter had seen her naked, the goddess turned him into a stag, and as he ran away in fear, his own hunting dogs chased after him, tearing him to pieces and eat him, thinking he was just another stag. As a virgin and chaste goddess, Artemis had made a vow never to break that promise, but she almost did for the hunter Orion. When her twin found out, he became jealous and tricked Artemis into killing the hunter, putting an end to the man that Apollo deemed unworthy of being the lover to a goddess.
.:RP Sample:. Artemis sighed as she walked through the quiet forest. The only sound to be heard was the rustling of the leaves from bother her short tunic and the animals that called her haven home. She came her to escape away from things every now and then, sometimes visiting with the animals, other times just sitting in a secluded spot away from everything. Especially away from her brother. Here was the only place she was ever really at peace.
She was still hurting over the ultimate betrayal Apollo had caused her when he tricked her into killing Orion. And all because of what? Because he deemed the hunter unworthy of being his sisters lover? As if I can't make these decisions on my own. she thought to herself bitterly. After all, it was her body. But she was a female, and in her world, she didn't have much say in these things. Goddess or not. She could tell her father about what Apollo had done, but all the king of the gods would really do would be laugh at her and tell her the same thing that her brother said. Instead, all she could do was put Orion into the stars. "I hope you can forgive me, my love." she said quietly to herself, wishing that there was some may he could hear her. "From now on," she vowed to herself, "No one will hurt me the way Apollo has."[/blockquote]
